Debbie Trenholm – Founder & Sommelier
Debbie established Savvy Company (originally The Savvy Grapes) to promote Canadian wines to Canadians. For over twenty years, Debbie along with her team of Sommeliers have connected Canadian winemakers to consumer by hosting creative events, 100% Canadian subscription based clubs and Sommelier curated parcels delivered to your home or office. 

We are proud that in 2021, Debbie was recognized by the Canadian wine industry with the honour of Wine Industry Champion. This award is presented by Wine Growers Canada recognized her unparalleled leadership, commitment and unrelentless support to Canadian wines. In 2025, Wines in Niagara named Debbie as ‘A Maverick’ in the industry.

Before pursuing her keen interest in the wine industry, Shirley was heard on the radio airwaves. Shirley joined the Savvy Team after completing her Sommelier accreditation.

And now she leverages her extensive media background and connections to amplify the backstories about the dynamic people in the industries we work with. She is the Editor-in-Chief of our Savvy Inside Scoop Newspaper. When you call us, she is the first voice you’ll hear and the one with the big smile that will greet you at our events.
