A handcrafted Niagara white born from a standout vintage.
The 2023 growing season in Ontario was exceptional. Warm days, cool nights, and an extended ripening period allowed winemakers to craft wines of concentration and elegance.
At Meldville Wines, winemaker Derek Barnett sourced fruit from a lakeside vineyard in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation, owned by Tony Martin. South-facing slopes and moderating lake breezes helped the grapes achieve full ripeness and vibrant fruit character.
After harvest, the grapes were crushed, pressed, and fermented in French oak barrels using cool fermentation and selected yeasts. Aged on lees for 12 months, the wine developed a creamy texture and elegant structure while preserving Viognier’s signature perfume.
The result is a Viognier that radiates Niagara personality — rich, aromatic, and balanced by bright acidity. It’s a true reflection of Meldville’s small-lot craftsmanship and the remarkable 2023 vintage.
