This rosé is downright delicious! Made by innovative winemaker Andrea Kaiser of Drea’s Wine Co – a virtual winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Created with the colour-rich Dornfelder grapes, the result is a deep, dark pink hue that radiates ‘summer’ your wine glass.
While this grape variety is typically known for having notes of blackberry, in with this rosé, raspberry flavours and aromas emerge instead. The wine was fermented bone dry and the pleasantly berry notes and backbone of acidity are refreshing on the palate.
This is an older wine, yet our Sommeliers tasted it recently and were impressed with the vibrancy of the flavours. Being a dark pink, this wine has the versatility to pair with picnic fare to a full roasted turkey feast!
Winemaker’s Notes: The juice could only spend a moment or two on the skins for colour extraction so the saignée method was used. Even this short time resulted in a deep coloured rosé which is why I have named it a Rosato.
