Creekside Estate Winery has always marched to the beat of its own drum. From day one, they’ve pushed boundaries — focusing on Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah at a time when those grapes were considered unconventional for Niagara. Those early risks clearly paid off, resulting in some of the region’s most distinctive wines and the well-earned reputation as a Shiraz specialist in Niagara. The Undercurrent Sparkling Shiraz showcases that expertise in a playful, fruit-forward sparkling wine.
The 2024 season began early with excellent growing conditions. Shiraz was kept on skins for a shorter time to soften tannins, then pressed and transferred to a Charmat tank at the end of fermentation. This captured natural bubbles while keeping alcohol moderate. A touch of residual sugar was left to balance the wine’s style.
The result is a bold sparkling red with freshness, fruit, and spice. It’s a wine that is unapologetically fun, yet still crafted with precision — a sparkling Shiraz that shows off Niagara’s creative side.
