Founded in 1997 in the small town of Jordan, Ontario, Creekside Estate Winery has always marched to the beat of its own drum. Located in the Niagara Peninsula and run by a passionate, self-described group of “cork dorks,” the Creekside team blends decades of industry expertise with a quirky, fun-loving spirit that’s become part of their identity. Known for pushing boundaries in Ontario winemaking, Creekside has long been celebrated for its Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. This Chardonnay Sur Lie reflects the winery’s commitment to thoughtful, intentional winemaking that lets terroir and technique shine.
The 2024 vintage began with an early bud break and was followed by a warm, steady growing season. Summer heat waves ripened the fruit evenly, while a mostly dry and sunny fall allowed for harvest at optimal ripeness. These conditions gave the grapes both intensity and elegance—qualities that are captured in this vintage of Chardonnay Sur Lie.
Instead of aging in oak, the winemaking team relied on sur lie aging—keeping the wine in contact with its lees and gently stirring them during maturation. This technique added body, texture, and subtle complexity without masking the grape’s natural character. The result is a Chardonnay that is layered and expressive, combining fruit purity with a refined structure.
This is a wine that highlights Niagara’s cool-climate strength and Creekside’s reputation for innovation, offering a taste of place in every glass.
