2027 Cellars King St Pinot Noir 2020

$40.00

This is one of Niagara’s finest Pinot Noir wines. Classic characteristics of ripe cherry, currant and vanilla bean aromas and flavours with a gamey undertone. 2027 Cellars was originally a virtual winery – meaning that it was a small winery housed inside another winery. The advantages to this model is the two wineries share supplies, winemaking equipment in order to minimize the overhead cost…amongst many other things! All of us in the Savvy Team have been avid supporters of 2027 winemaker & owners Kevin Panagapka and his wife Jodie since they started. They realized their dream of opening their own winery with a tasting room a few weeks before the pandemic. Talk about timing! We are excited to introduce you to their wines – each made with incredible care and it shows in each sip.

Winemaker Notes: The King Street Vineyard is located in the ‘Twenty Mile Bench’ sub appellation. The moderate slope of the vineyard ensures a harmonious combination of excellent sun exposure and air flow, producing wines capable of wonderful finess and structure. During harvest, the grapes were hand-harvested and hand-sorted. The fruit was destemmed and 30% of it was crushed prior to a two-week cold-soak and maceration, followed by wild (spontaneous) fermentation that lasted for three weeks. The resulting wine was pressed into tank and then racked to Burgundian oak barrel (40% new), where it aged on its primary lees (winespeak: yeast) for 14 months before being bottled.
